Interreg 30 years: share your story of cooperation

Interreg 2 Seas, Interreg North-West Europe and Interreg Europe, representing all strands of Interreg programmes (cross-border, transnational, interregional), gladly introduce the video produced for Interreg’s 30th anniversary. For this special occasion, the programmes invite people, organisations and regions to share their Interreg stories.

The Interreg 2 Seas PECS project brought together local authorities, research institutes and small and medium sized ports and marinas from UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.  The ERDF support allowed for successful joint research and pilot installations of new technologies lowering the carbon footprint of ports and marinas in Portsmouth (UK), Ostend (BE), Hellevoetsluis (NL), Ijmuiden (NL) and Dunkirk (FR).

"Collaboration between partners is essential to collect information, share knowledge and provide guidance to one another on the UVC strategy. Some partners’ expertise on applied horticultural research complements others’ expertise on the development of robotics and sensors. Interreg NWE is the backbone for the different activities in our project"

The Interreg North-West Europe UV-ROBOT project which is developing an autonomous technology to control mildew in a more sustainable way, gathers 9 partners across 3 countries (BE, FR, UK). "Collaboration between partners is essential to collect information, share knowledge and provide guidance to one another on the UVC strategy. Some partners’ expertise on applied horticultural research complements others’ expertise on the development of robotics and sensors. Interreg NWE is the backbone for the different activities in our project." (Stef Laurijssen from Proefcentrum Hoogstraten,BE, Lead Partner.)

The City of Lille is involved in the Interreg Europe project MOLOC. The project has brought to the City new ideas on how to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions through better urban planning. Inspired by an accessible and interactive mapping and modelling tool for urban planning from Italy, Lille is now planning to develop a similar tool, a Geographical Information System, to better understand the effects of climate change on its urban environment and take better actions to turn Lille into a low-carbon city.

About Interreg

Interreg is a pillar of EU Cohesion policy and represent a flagship scheme for cooperation at regional and national level, to the benefit of all European citizens. Launched in 1990, it has proven that borders are not barriers and has brought Europeans closer together by helping to tackle common challenges and creating new opportunities for cooperation beyond borders. In 2020, Interreg celebrates 30 years of working together thus embodying the European spirit.

The video is being released on 21st September, when we celebrate the European Cooperation Day #ECDay2020. The date commemorates the achievements of cooperation throughout the European Union.

We are keen on hearing how you have been benefited from Interreg. Let’s get in touch on social media using #Interreg30 #ECDay2020
