Interreg North-West Europe and Atlantic Area exchange experiences
The Joint Secretariat (JS) and the Contact Point Network of the Interreg North-West Europe programme visited the premises of its counterpart for the Atlantic Area in Porto, Portugal, on 21st May. The transnational programmes met with the aim of exchanging experiences amongst the staff as well as to investigate common topics of interest as part of the programmes’ capitalisation practices.
The visit also included an introduction to the AtlaS.WH project at the Porto City Hall. The project connects five World Heritage cities from around Europe to explore common solutions for the long-term sustainability of their historic centres and the various challenges they face, from overcrowding to housing, from climate change to energy efficiency.
Interreg Atlantic Area is located in Porto and promotes transnational cooperation among 36 Atlantic regions of five European countries. With a total budget of € 185M, being €140M of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the programme finances cooperation projects in the fields of Innovation & Competitiveness, Resource Efficiency, Territorial Risks Management, Biodiversity and Natural & Cultural Assets.
