Interreg NWE project E=0 wins 2019's EU Sustainable Energy Innovation Award
We are very proud to announce that our E=0 project was the winner of the #EUSEW19 award under the innovation category.
The competition recognises the year's top sustainable energy projects in the categories of Engagement, Leadership, Innovation and Youth. 12 projects were selected as finalists for this years edition, including not only the final winner E = 0, which focuses on creating a mass market for net zero energy retrofits in NWE, but also "Funding Ocean Renewable Energy through Strategic European Action” (FORESEA)".
E=0's concept is based on a one-week smooth implementation and follows a successful model from the Netherlands, which already delivered 2,000 refurbishments in the country. Thanks to the project, 17 pilot homes in the UK, were completely refurbished, which will allow the roll-out to more than 300 other households. In France, 22 pilots opened its way to retrofit further 6,500 homes. The potential exploited by E=0 was so successful that a follow-up initiative focused on buildings named MUSTBE0 kicked-off in May 2019.
The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. The 14th edition of EUSEW took place in Brussels from 17 to 21 June 2019.
