The REGIOSTARS Awards are a yearly competition, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy. It aims at identifying good practices in regional development and highlighting innovative, EU-funded projects, which could be attractive and inspiring to other regions and project managers. The winners of this edition will be announced during the next EURegionsWeek mid-October.
REGIOSTARS 2020: Two of our projects need your support!
Two of our projects are among the 25 finalists (out of 206 applicants) in 2020.
Category 2: Sustainable growth – Circular economy for a green Europe > SeRaMCo
The construction sector is the most resource-intensive industrial sector in the EU and is responsible for about a third of all waste. Since 2017, the SeRaMCo project has been increasing the use of construction and demolition waste for cement and concrete production in North-West Europe (NWE). Primary raw materials are replaced with high-quality recycled ones, a more sustainable practice lifting pressure on natural resources and contributing to Europe’s transition to a circular economy.
Category 4: Urban development: Citizens engagement for cohesive European cities > SHICC
Many European cities are faced with a housing affordability crisis. The SHICC project addresses this issue by supporting the establishment of Community Land Trusts (CLTs) in four cities across North-West Europe: Brussels, London, Ghent and Lille. CLTs are democratic organisations which develop and manage homes that are affordable – and remain forever so – to people with low and median incomes. CLTs create cohesive neighbourhoods through community and resident involvement.
