The ReNEW project (‘Resource innovation Network for European Waste’) looked at increasing cooperation between research and business to create value from waste.
One of the most significant outputs from the project was a Transnational Action Plan, aimed at providing a pathway for the provision of training and support facilities in North West Europe for the waste sector.
Now complete, the Action Plan makes a number of recommendations including:
- promoting resource recovery within the circular economy;
- developing integrated material management strategies to replace waste management strategies;
- improving the availability of pilot plant facilities;
- increasing business participation in resource recovery innovation

Although the project has officially ended, the network created in ReNEW will remain active.
