We are proud to present our Interreg project Care-Peat. Within Care-Peat 5 knowledge institutes and 4 nature organisations from 5 different countries will work together to restore the natural potential of peatlands to save carbon. Today, many peatlands in the northern hemisphere are degraded, and emit rather than store carbon. Within Care-Peat, nature organisations will work with landowner groups to demonstrate the carbon saving potential of peatlands using pilots. At the same time, knowledge institutions will work together to develop and test new techniques for improved peatland carbon assessment. (read more about the project and partners)
Sounds interesting? You are warmly invited to the Start conference of Care-Peat on Wednesday June 12th 2019 in Manchester. At the conference you will learn more about the project and meet the different partners and stakeholders. We will also bring together different EU-projects on peatland restoration and discuss how to cooperate. Interreg CANAPE, LIFE Peat-Restore, Greifswald University and Moors for the Future Partnership are already confirmed to be there. Finally, you can participate in several workshops about measuring methods in the pilots. At the end of the day, there's an optional site visit and evening meal.
