Dr Deborah Andrews, a Lead on the CEDaCI collaboration project has won a Sustainability in Action Award from London South Bank University.

This award is given to an individual or team for their work to improving our environmental and/or social impact at a local, national or international level.

As part of the CEDaCI Project, Deborah helped to build a network of 100 data centre industry representatives in the North-West Europe region. She has created new alliances with the leading organisations in the field and raised awareness within the Data Centre Industry about the necessity of circular economy. Deborah is leading the sustainable design activities conducted by the LSBU team. She supervised the development of the eco-design evaluation tool for the Data Centre IT equipment as well as the Circular Data Centre Compass, which will help the Data Centre Industry representatives to make circular options during the procurement, refurbishment and the disposal of servers.

The CEDaCI project will build a Circular Economy for the Data Centre Industry to increase reclamation and reuse of Critical Raw Materials in the sector, extend product life through equipment reuse and remanufacture, reduce use of virgin materials, waste and environmental impact arising from the growth in redundant equipment and develop a secure and economically viable CRM supply chain for the sector. Other project aims include creating jobs in North West Europe, decreasing illegal export of sectoral WEEE and limiting the stockpiling of resources overseas.

Congratulations Deborah!
