1.What is the highlight of your product? Our service improves the peace of mind of caregivers and at the same time keeps the independence of the alone living elderly without the user acceptance burden to learn about or adapt to a new technology: We simplify independent living of alone living elderly! RICA solution is autonomously and continuously self-learning the daily living pattern of the elderly in their home based on sensor technology that remotely aggregates the user's movements. After an initial self-learning phase, the level of the deviation of the daily routine is continuously condensed into a color message and transmitted via IoT technology to the caregiver site. This color message is then illuminating a lamp (alternatively a mobile app displaying the color code) based on the received color.
2.Why did you participate in the voucher call? To create attention for our solution. We know it works, our customers know it works, but we need to reach out to the larger public. Main problems are: (1) The realm of care is difficult to enter. (2) There lies a taboo on the topic of dementia and mental issues.
3.What is your most important lesson learnt? Before this project, I learned was that the dysfunction of the brain due to dementia is not visible on the outside. People do not understand or accept this. Even the majority of the professional care is oblivious to the impact of this illness on the patient. The most important lesson learned during this project is that the above is even more widespread than I first realized.
