Local decision makers and stakeholders met in the Schwäbisch Gmünd city hall to discuss the implementation plan of CME, including technical details and challenges, as well as the project timeline. Another main topic of discussion was the planned locations of the future charging stations for the town’s new cargo e-bikes with mobile energy storage facility, last mile technology e-bikes, which will be implemented under the CleanMobilEnergy project.
Finally, the local stakeholders were given updates on the iEMS (interoperable energy management system) that aims to diminish the disconnect between renewable energy (RES) production/supply and energy demand in Schwäbisch Gmünd and other CME pilots. The iEMS will be a future proof tool that the city can utilise long after the CME project has finished, thanks to the investment from the Interreg North West Europe programme.
Overall, the Local Stakeholder Group Meeting held by EIfI-Tech was productive for the CME pilot of Schwäbisch Gmünd, as the project timeline is now better defined and the locations for the charging stations and associated infrastructure are clearer. Communication on these topics with local stakeholders and decision makers, who are engaged with and passionate about the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd, is vital to project pilot success, as inappropriately placed charging stations would face the risk of going unused or becoming obsolete. The EIfI-Tech will take what they have learned from the local stakeholder meeting and apply this knowledge to ensure a successful German CME pilot and a low-carbon future.
