Successful arrival of the Pley-battery in City Pilot Arnhem

On the 18th of March, the 500 kWh Pley-battery arrived at the City Pilot location in Arnhem. There, the battery will be connected to the substation of Walvoorzieningen Nederland, and utlimately to the Arnhem solar park 2021.

Walvoorzieningen Nederland (WVnld), a subpartner in the CleanMobilEnergy project, together with the municipality of Arnhem and Fransen Technical Services, organised the heavy crane equipment to correctly place the Pley battery in its current location within the CME pilot site: next to the substation of WVnld. Within a few weeks, the battery will be connected to the substation of WVnld and experiments regarding the charging and discharging the battery shall commence.

The 18th of March 2020 marks the successful arrival of the Pley-battery in City Pilot Arnhem.

The battery will be included in the system of the “shore-to-ship power to the grid” (SSP), a 2 MVA connection. Later, when the solar field is realised, renewable energy of this field will be stored in the Pley battery. Stored energy will be used later in the day to supply power to charge cars or ships, depending on need.

The battery will also be integrated into the iEMS being developed within the CleanMobilEnergy project.
