4th CAN Project Meeting

Arnhem (Netherlands)

5 October 2017 - 6 October 2017

On 5 and 6 October, the project partners of CAN met for the 4th time. More than ever before, the importance of transnational exchange and support for the achievement of the project's objectives became clear.

Hans von Ammers from Arnhem welcomed the participants in his municipality with a reference to the "Coehoornstraat", where the CAN partners came together on October 5th. In this neighbourhood, the starting signal for a more climate-friendly Arnhem was given in 2013. For the first time, the neighbourhood had been asked about its needs, ideas and goals as a very first step. Since the results were impressive, Arnhem has become convinced of the so-called "grass-root approach" ever since then. Hans von Ammers gave his project partners a short insight into these numerous results, including the uncovering of Arnhem's hidden brook by the end of 2017, and thus aroused great interest.

During the meeting, this mutual inspiration, the synergies that CAN provides, was more important than ever before. So, Arnhem, in turn, asked the transnational team to help them make a decision on whether or not to launch a digital platform presenting the various local initiatives of Arnhem. Moreover, Liège drew on the experience of the “energy caravan” from Worms as they are planning a mobile consulting office to inform about potential energy retrofits of residential buildings. Worms, on the other hand, will benefit from the expertise of Brest when it comes to offering thermal tours in its own city.

Consequently, the project partners would like to cooperate even more closely in the future and benefit even more from the exchange for their own work. According to the joint decision made in Arnhem, regular topic-specific webinars will take this need into account in the future.

The project partners' univocal conclusion:

"We need regular webinars to faciliate our transnational working processes!"
