For 201 metres of drill cores, proceeded from the drilling site in Wülfrath-Düssel to the geoscientific investigation in Krefeld: systematically lined up, drill core after drill core, layer after layer, ready for meticulous description by geoscientistsrom the partner Geologischer Dienst NRW. First of all, everything that is visible to the naked eye is documented. The samples are then examined in detail in our laboratories for specific studies of the type of rock, fossils, and storage conditions. A new finding is that limestone horizons are also found in the claystone. This means that the transition between claystone and the geothermally interesting reef limestones near Heiligenhaus can now be reconstructed. The geothermal potential for extracting environmentally-friendly heat from the depths of the region can thus be predicted more accurately.
