The Minister of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) today informed himself about the DGE-ROLLOUT project and the planned activities at the Weisweiler site. Here, near the Weisweiler lignite-fired power plant, an underground observatory is to be built in the second half of the project, with geophones reaching down to one kilometer. The data thus obtained will provide information on the geothermal potential in the region. Four project partners have sites in NRW: DMT, RWE Power AG, Fraunhofer IEG, and the lead partner GD NRW.
