Researcher from Ruhr University Bochum working on samples from Heiligenhaus

Limestone and dolomite stone - jagged and full of cavities. Motivated, Dr. Chelsea Pederson from the Ruhr University Bochum mills samples from cores from Heiligenhaus at Geologischer Dienst NRW to determine their isotopes. These provide clues as to how the rock became karstified and how limestone was converted to dolomite. Findings that are important for assessing the hydrothermal potential of these rocks as a supplier of environmentally friendly heat.
