Manchester is ready to launch its first eHUBS!

TfGM are excited to launch eHUBs in Manchester in October 2021. Twenty-five Cargoroo eCargo bikes will be available to alongside a new eCar club run by vehicle rental experts Enterprise, providing 12 electric cars which can be rented by the half-hour from special charging points.

The project will complement the new cycling routes and infrastructure that are being delivered across Greater Manchester as part of Mayor Andy Burnham’s and Transport Commissioner Chris Boardman’s Bee Network vision.

TfGM have been working hard to get ready for the launch of the eHUBS. Including finalising designs for signage and marketing material, preparing press releases and briefing local councillors, ward members and residents about the scheme. TfGM are also in the process of holding photoshoots to prepare marketing materials, as well as filming ‘how to’ videos for the e-cargo bikes; to be used across TfGMs and Cargoroo’s website and social medial channels.

In addition, TfGM have worked alongside Manchester Bike Hire and Cargoroo to create training packages that people can book in order to have dedicated e-cargo bike training. As e-cargo bikes are a relatively new form of transportation in the UK, it is important for people to be able to feel confident and safe when using them on the roads. In addition, Cargoroo have been accredited with CoMo UK. Collaborative Mobility UK is the national organisation dedicated to shared transport and an accrediting body of bikeshare and car club operators. The Cargoroo accreditation is the first of its type in the UK

TfGM are excited to be presenting on the eHUBS at the upcoming Greater Manchester Green summit, which this year focuses on the actions we can all take to reduce our carbon footprint and improve our environment. At the summit we will showcase the eHUBS and share how the learnings from the project are directly influencing our understanding of mobility hubs and the developed of shared mobility strategies. In addition, we plan to have some of the e-cargo bikes available at the event for people to try and enjoy ahead of the official launch!
