Project partner Unicorn has conducted the first tests with a fuel cell cargo Pedelec (FCCP) under sub-zero conditions. At -15C, the technology worked perfectly. The sub-zero tests are important, as both, fuel cells and batteries have issues at low temperatures. Therefore, the German Aerospace Center developed an innovative preheater that allows start and operation up to -20C without reducing range or lifetime. The result: Almost noiseless propulsion did not disturb the peaceful rural snowy landscape.
