Green WIN final reports going online

The Green WIN project officially finished on 30 June 2023 though we are continuing to work on some of our trial sites to conclude installations of pumps and different types of control systems that operate them.

We have also worked hard to wrap things up elsewhere and have produced several important reports that demonstrate the technical findings, our views on emerging solutions, Co2 emission reductions smarter pumping can deliver, the results and methodology of the Liège Lab tests, and a position paper ‘Greener Pumping on Europe’s Inland waterways’.

At a higher technical level we produced reports explaining the results and methodology of the Liège Lab tests, ways to monitor the efficiency of a pumping system, and an overview on the ISO9906 standard which defines test acceptance grades for pumps.

Another key report is the Phase 2 Trial Site Audit Summary Report which provides a comprehensive update on the work we carried out or need to take to bring about the improvements at our trial sites and beyond. 

We will be posting these on the Green WIN website over the next few weeks; introducing each one in a series of mini articles, so it’s clear what they are about and how we feel they can be used by organisations wanting to improve their pumping operations.

All outputs (plus those from several other ‘waterway related’ EU funded projects) will also be accessible via the Network of Inland Waterways Europe (NIWE) website https://waterwayseurope.com/low-carbon-climate-change/ for the foreseeable future.

 The first report we feature is our Position Paper: Greener Pumping on Europe's Inland Waterways which summarises our work and some key findings from Green WIN. We also hope it supports the case for increased EU funding on this topic and to support the vital role that our inland waterways play.
