More about Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (VLM)

The Flemish Land Agency (Vlaamse Landmaatschappij - VLM) is one of the six partners involved in the Green WIN project, working towards reducing their carbon footprint generated by the by their pumping equipment and systems in a cost-efficient manner.

VLM is a multifunctional land use and development organisation focusing on the Flemish region of Belgium. As part of the land development plan 'Mijn Mangelbeek', which is situated in the community of Heusden-Zolder, VLM is working on improving the hydrology and the water management system in an area with mining history, where six pumps protect local residents and farmers from flooding-related problems. These pumps have been included as a case study performed together with local and regional and project partners.

As well as to supplying all information regarding the features of the pumps and their operations (thanks to LRM who manages the pumps), VLM is investigating the current situation and the scope for improvements, assessing and reporting on wider mitigation potential of additional water management solutions that can consolidate the actual trials in University Liege. After approval from the province council, the first water level measurements will start in April. In the meantime, VLM and the province of Limburg have also finalised an estimate for the eco-hydrological study and made a cooperation agreement.
