At the start of the month, Canal & River Trust MEICA framework contractor Amco installed new Hidrostal Submersible pumps at Tinsley Pumping Station near Sheffield.
This is the first Green WIN funded pump to get to site for Canal and River Trust. The new pumps bring higher efficiency and resilience to a critical pumping station maintaining water levels in the Sheffield Canal.
Works have been complicated by the unplanned failure of the pump discharge pipeline which has seen 20m of pipe line replaced by Keir and substantial groundworks to repair the damaged towpath and lock surrounding area. With all works completed on schedule, the canal is guaranteed to be open for business this summer.
