Construction begins on Amsterdam pilot ship Neo Orbis

The H2SHIPS partner Port of Amsterdam is proud to announce the keel laying - meaning the start of construction - for the Neo Orbis. The ship will be sail entirely on electric energy: partly with batteries and partly with a fuel cell range extender. Hydrogen will be produced on board by mixing a solid powder, sodium borohydride (NaBH4), with water, which releases gaseous hydrogen that will power the fuel cell.

NaBH4 was developed for the Port of Amsterdam pilot project by the H2SHIPS partner TU Delft. Watch the video below to find out more.
