Assessment of the economic impact of these welfare indicators in dairy cattle

The WP2 purpose is to work on a making-decision tool for farmers and advisors in order to improve the management of some animal welfare indicators as lameness, mastitis, stress and energy balance.

To contribute to this work Idele was involved in the assessment of the economic impact of these welfare indicators in dairy cattle. So to contribute Idele made a comparative analysis of mathematic models used in scientific publication and a descriptive analysis of existing tools to assess economic impact of some welfare indicators in dairy cattle (lameness, mastitis and ketosis).

About the comparative analysis of mathematic models used in scientific publication (20 publication from 1997 to 2020), Idele wrote a document which describes the type of data required, the objective, the calculation method or model, the input and output data, and the limits and conditions of use for each mathematic models.

About descriptive analysis of existing tools, 13 tools are described: the type of data required, the objective, the calculation method or model, the input and output data, and the limits and conditions of use.
