On February 28th and March 1st Energy Cities organised a workshop in Ettlingen - in the framework of the HeatNet NWE and mPower projects.
It brought together representatives from cities, municipal companies, agencies and associations from all over Europe. Participants had the opportunity to listen to the experience of municipalities who successfully became energy producers and/or suppliers. Each speaker highlighted the challenges they encountered, but also the many opportunities brought by their local energy company.
For instance Mijnwater BV, partner of the HeatNet NWE project, explained how the company expanded, from a local project to a regional company. It is the perfect example of how a municipal company can foster the development of the 4th generation district heating and cooling.
