Watch our webinar on heat recovery from data centres!

South Dublin County Council organised a webinar to discuss the development of district heating and cooling in Ireland on 28th August 2020. The focus was on heat recovery from data centre, based on the example of the 1st large-scale district heating scheme in Ireland in the Tallaght Town Centre area. This project will provide low-carbon heat to public sector, residential and commercial customers, by utilising waste heat from a local data centre thanks to a centralised, large-scale heat pump. The phase 1 of the project will save 1,441 tonnes of CO2 annually. The company operating the district heating system will be fully-owned by South Dublin County Council and will be the first not-for-profit energy utility in Ireland.

In the 1st part of the webinar, Mags Dalton from PM Group presented the opportunities for district heating reusing waste heat from data centres, with an in-depth explanation of data centres' design and operations. Then Eddie Conroy from South Dublin County Council presented the Tallaght District Heating Scheme. You can watch the recording of the webinar below.
