HECTOR Truck to be showcased at APSE Scotland Fleet, Waste and Grounds Seminar 2022

The APSE seminar will take place on 17th- 20th May 2022 at the MacDonald Aviemore Highland Resort.  The Aberdeen HECTOR truck will be showcased at the event.  Speakers from Aberdeen City Council and Hyzon Motors will be in attendance.

This unique seminar is designed to give service directors, managers, elected members and trade union representatives in the service areas of Fleet, Waste, Parks, Grounds and Streets the opportunity to gain knowledge from experts in the sectors and to discuss strategic and policy issues with colleagues.

We are delighted to confirm that Scotland’s Traffic Commissioner, Ms Claire Gilmore will open the event on Wednesday 18 May and discuss the responsibilities of fleet managers and the latest issues.  Other topics which will be covered during the event include food waste 10 years on with Zero Waste Scotland providing an overview of the progress of food waste recycling as well as ongoing challenges; Aberdeenshire Council providing information on their collection method and how this allows them to collect from their whole area despite much falling under the rural exemption; as well as Western Isles providing information on how their food waste plays a vital role in their local energy hub. Waste data and technology will also be a focus at the event, with SEPA's waste tracking team providing a presentation around the final destination of waste as well as this delegates will find out about South Ayrshire’s waste app and Fife’s new in cab technologies. Alternative fuels will feature, with a presentation from Falkirk Council in relation to their recent HVO trial; Dr Euan McTurk of Plug Life talking all things electric and the Energy Savings Trust discussing support with decarbonising your fleet.  HYZON Europe and Aberdeen City Council will be providing delegates with information on hydrogen fuel cell technology and Aberdeen City's UK first hydrogen fuel cell RCV.  Parks, Grounds and Streetscene feature with two important sessions this year.  One will see an expert panel of speakers provide their valuable perspectives on the revised National Litter and Fly Tipping strategy and we'll also hear from Highland in terms of their strategic review of their play areas, along with APSE's Head of PN who will be looking at monitoring streetscene via Apps.
