Project partner AGR Herten announces Hector garbage truck

Our project partner AGR Herten is following their vision of sustainable waste management. Their ambitions to provide low emission services includes the cutting of emissions from waste collection. The Hector project enabled them to successfully procure and order the first front loader garbage truck powered by a fuel cell electric motor, in Europe.

The garbage truck is currently being produced by a Belgian manufacturer. The production phase will see a conventional diesel truck being converted to a fuel cell truck. The fuel cell truck is expected to be delivered in May of 2020, just in time to be presented at the IFAT (leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw material management), taking place in Munich from the 4th-8th of May 2020.

The Hector garbage truck will be an addition to the AGR’s hydrogen fleet. Additional 4 light duty fuel cell vehicles are already operated by the AGR, thereby creating demand for a hydrogen fuel economy.
