The Energy & Farm Diversification Show took place at Gurteen College, Co Tipperary, Ireland, on July 20th, 2023.
The show is a must for farmers and landowners who are looking to
- Diversify into the energy, leisure, hospitality, food, or tourism industries.
- Reduce energy consumption and increase the production of renewable energy on their farms and land.
The event had 3 different pavilions each having a different theme including energy, diversification and land use change and sustainability. Suppliers and experts in energy and diversification were available to discuss with farmers and landowners different options for improving their ventures.
The keynote speech was given by the minister for agriculture Charlie McConalogue who on the day announced new incentives for forestry. The minister also took time to meet with some of the exhibitors. Even though he did stop to look at the stand, he did not have time to ask any questions.
Throughout the day, there were many discussions about various topics including renewables, artisan food, carbon farming etc.
The event was well attended, with many visitors stopping to enquire about Solar thermal energy and whilst agreeing that the technology is a good idea, but would be hesitant to install the technology.
During the day, our video Getting into hot water was playing.
