Promoted learnings from relevant Mustbe0 partner days and other site visits

Rotterdam, The Netherlands

6 October 2022 - 7 October 2022

With more than 6,000 homes retrofitted and 20,000 in the pipeline, it's clear the Netherlands is leading the way with Energiesprong. So, what can we learn?

Bringing together members of the Mayor of London's

Retrofit Accelerator Homes #InnovationPartnership, we spent two days on a Netherlands Energiesprong study tour this week to discover insights.

From #MMC and energy solutions to resident satisfaction, here are some of our highlights!

➡️ Digitalisation should be at the heart of solutions - key suppliers Rc Panels and Factory Zero B.V. are 3D scanning houses and remotely monitoring 2,400 energy modules to identify and correct faults early, often without even visiting the site.

➡️ Scale will unlock performance and cost reduction - one example from Factory Zero cited a pipe that previously had to be built by hand, which leaked at junctions and was time-consuming. Now it's bought in one piece.

➡️ Occupant happiness is the ultimate indicator - from enjoying 'plug and play' integrated energy solutions to competing over who has the lowest bills, it was a joy to see residents loving their new homes.

➡️ Finance for private owners is possible - as we consider a leaseholder model, it was fantastic to see happy private homeowners in an apartment block. A mortgage / low interest loan is secured on the building, and they contribute around €85 monthly.

➡️ We won't succeed without collaboration - seeing solution providers and housing providers together in real-life was the perfect reminder that change happens best when people work together.

"Seeing a whole retrofitted neighborhood was one of my highlights, it really gave me a sense that this could be the norm in the future."
