As ESNS is a partner in the PowerVIBES project, GEM had a prominent place on the Vismarkt in Groningen from Wednesday the 15th until Saturday the 18th of January 2020.
GEM is a sustainable solution to drastically reduce the use of diesel generators at festivals and to create awareness about new energy solutions. The tower uses an impressive wind turbine and colorful solar collectors. The energy generated is stored in a battery.
GEM as part of ESNS
In 2019 a scale model of GEM was shown during the EPIC conference. Now the 21 meter high tower could be seen by everyone during ESNS. Team members were present on a daily basis to tell interested visitors about the possibilities of GEM. Especially for ESNS participants there was a seminar ‘Evolution of GEM’ and panel discussion at the GEM cafe on Thursday 16 January where the results of GEM and the planned innovations at GEM were discussed.
GEM tower provided the GEM cafe and a "glass house" stage with energy on the Vismarkt.
