Every European City Council declaring Climate Emergency is invited to contact the RED WoLF Project to take action.

Dear Colleague,

I understand that your Council has recently declared a Climate Emergency and is developing its approach to meeting new, extremely challenging carbon neutrality targets.

One main challenge area for reducing carbon emissions is from heating domestic properties. I would therefore like to introduce to you the RED WoLF project and heating system.

RED WoLF is an Interreg North West Europe project focused on creating a new electrical heating system for domestic properties, based on a hybrid installation of solar PV plus modern thermal storage heaters plus battery storage, all controlled by smart software which optimises the system to keep running costs to a minimum by taking advantage of surplus renewable electricity on the grid.

RED WoLF heating systems are currently being installed in a number of pilot schemes across North West Europe, including two pilots here in Oldham – 10 homes with the system owned by First Choice Homes, and another 19 owned by Oldham Council. The pilot schemes will demonstrate the value of the system in saving occupiers money on their energy bills and reducing carbon emissions by moving away from fossil fuel fired heating for domestic homes.

Because the RED WoLF project is funded by public money, the system architecture will be open source and so could benefit companies local to you in terms of being a new product that they can supply and install in both social housing and owner occupied properties.

I enclose a leaflet about the RED WoLF project. The new system could form a key part of the solution to meeting your Council’s carbon neutrality targets. If you are interested in finding out more about the system, please let me know and I would be happy to set up an online meeting where I can take you through more details about the RED WoLF project and heating system.

I would also be grateful if you could pass this email on to any other colleagues at the Council or other local stakeholders who you think may be interested in RED WoLF – for example housing associations or developers.

I hope that you find the leaflet of interest and hope to hear from you soon with a view to updating you on the progress of the Oldham pilot schemes.

Regards,
