The ReNu2Farm project has been successfully approved at Interreg North-West Europe Programme’s call for capitalisation initiatives (CAP) in March 2021 and runs from April 2021 until March 2023. The project will stimulate new markets for increased RDF (recycling-derived fertilizer) use and decrease mineral fertiliser usage in North-West Europe. New target groups will be the horticulture and the private/recreational sectors, whereas the horticulture sector represents the largest RDF sales market after agriculture. Private households with stakeholders from leisure activities and the recreational sector will be addressed to increase public acceptance of RDFs. The well approved methodologies from ReNu2Farm, as e.g. the survey of farmers developed in ReNu2Farm to discover nutrient demands will be adapted to inquire the needs of the new target groups. Most promising RDF products from our ReNu2Farm field & pot trials will be used in comprehensive greenhouse trials to adapt & proof RDF application/efficiency for horticulture use. Further on, the greenhouse trials will be demonstrated and further events will be organised to increase the acceptance and awareness in horticulture and in the private/leisure sector. In order to overcome main threats for RDF market entry, CAP follows up elaborating recommendations for EU policies, reduce knowledge gaps and boost awareness raising for RDF uptake. By the direct involvement in the Biorefine Cluster Europe synergies with other projects will be activated. Our mission of CAP is the translation of “science to communication” of our ReNu2Farm results for farmers, horticultural and private/leisure sector.
