Importance of professional repairers
A survey Repair&Share commissioned at the end of 2020 showed that professional repairers of household appliances are a dying breed in Belgium. High prices for spare parts, tools and software, as well as labour-intensive work, make it difficult for them to keep their head above water. Especially if they have to compete with new appliances sold at really low prices. That is why the Belgian Right to Repair Campaign of 2021-2022 calls on manufacturers and politicians to ensure that repairers have less costs and can work more easily.
A campaign movie, infographs, interviews and portraits of professional repairers on the Repair&Share website showcase the levers and barriers professional repairers experience to revive their businesses.
A policy letterĀ with measures to stimulate the repair sector in Belgium was sent to Belgian policy makers. Belgian citizens and organisations supporting the call to stimulate the repair sector in Belgium can sign a petition on the website of Repair&Share.
