This workshop aimed to engage specifically with municipal authorities interested in the potential to use their waterways for low-carbon urban logistics. With this in mind the event opened with DG Move’s action plan Naïades 3 which aims at transferring 75% of inland freight to inland waterways and rail, including its roadmap for digitalization and automation of IWT.
Ambitious last mile logistics projects and goals were presented by cities from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Norway. As collaboration is the key towards successful projects, these regions share the ambitious vision of promoting modal shift from road to rail and IWT and to develop last mile urban logistics.
