STEPS DESIGN FOR SAFETY IN BATTERY SYSTEMS SYMPOSIUM

Because of the vital role of the battery in energy storage applications, it is important to have a special attention to the battery pack which acts as a heart for the energy storage system. The University of Twente as a knowledge partner in STEPS project wants to organize a symposium that the purpose is  to create awareness about safety considerations and provide useful design for safety information in battery systems as applicable to STEPS.

Programme and Speakers

Design for Safety symposium is a four-hours online event and will take place in the afternoon from 13:00 till 17:00 On Friday 12th of March 2021. First we begin with two successive introduction presentation from University of Twente by Professor Braham Ferreira and then the event include 4 presentations and will be ended by panel discussion according to following  program:

13:15-13:30: Kick-off and introduction by professor Ferreira and Janneke Hoedemaekers
13:30-14:00: Practical advice and Scenarios of hazards by University of Twente by:

14:00-14:30: Grid-connected Battery Energy Storage Systems – Safety Standards by Rianne ’t Hoen
14:30-15:00: Twente Safety Campus: Fire brigade and batteries by Folkert Van der Ploeg
15:00-15:30: Safety recommendations and normative guidelines for battery systems in stationary and transportation applications by Panagiotis Mouratidis and Benjamin Blat Belmonte
15:30-15:45: Break
15:45-16:45: Panel discussion chaired by Dr.Jelena Popovic
