STEPS 'speed-date' supports internationalization

Last month, STEPS hosted a successful matchmaking event for SMEs in the energy and power storage sector. Innovative businesses from all over Northwest Europe joined digitally to discuss opportunities to cooperate, advance onto international markets and learn from one another.

“We would like to thank STEPS for bringing us in contact with four different SMEs from other countries. We will stay in touch to get our company and their companies further on!”

Roel Bleumer from Volta Energy (The Netherlands)

The SMEs first got the opportunity to introduce themselves. They all prepared a vlog to show what their business is working on and pose a question or challenge they would like to discuss. Based on these vlogs, the SMEs could give up preferences on who they would like to match with during the four speed-dating rounds.

While the matches were prepared, the SMEs got a presentation on internationalization opportunities for energy storage enterprises in NWE and how the STEPS project supports this, given by Michael Doran of the Southeast Energy Agency of Ireland. Then the matchmaking could start: based on their preferences, SMEs then were matched to share experience and information during four speed-dating rounds. There were a lot of successful matched that lead to exchanging contact details for follow-up meetings.

The nine SMEs that joined the event were ZEBRA, Exergy Storage, Volta Energy NL, Solartechno Europe B.V., p&e power&energy GmbH, Voltfang, OXTO Energy Storage, E2T and Locquet Power & Light. The vlogs they prepared can be found below.
