Workshop “Exchange of knowledge and best practices on landfill mining”

On 29 March 2019, the RAWFILL project organised a workshop entitled “Exchange of knowledge and best practices on landfill mining” at les Champs Jouault, Cuves, France. The main goal of the workshop was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and to provide practical guidelines for future landfill mining projects. In total, nine presentations were given by speakers from the public and private sector. This workshop was a good opportunity to gather Belgian and French stakeholders, which are involved in landfill mining projects in North-West Europe. The workshop attracted more than 40 participants. It was a great opportunity to enhance the visibility of the RAWFILL project. In that occasion, the partners of the RAWFILL project presented the intermediate results of two of the pilot sites as best practices: les Champs Jouault (France) and Onoz landfill (Walloon region, Belgium). Panel discussions were mainly focused on the economic potential of landfill mining projects, landfill mining perspectives and challenges, as well as landfill mining regulatory issues. This workshop was coupled to the RAWFILL midterm event on 28 March 2019.
