After launching two calls for interest to boost edible insects businesses, ValuSect offers now an opportunity for the insects as feed sector. On 17 January, the consortium will launch a call for interest to receive vouchers for SMEs working with insects for feed.
The global insect feed market has a great potential to provide sustainable proteins to feed the world’s growing population. The sector was estimated at €133 million in 2020 and is expected to reach €736.7 million by the end of 2026*. ValuSect will support the growth of the sector in North-West Europe by developing the knowledge around insects as feed and transferring it to SMEs in the region.
The consortium will do so by launching a new call for interest to receive vouchers, only open to SMEs in the insects for feed sector. Interested applicants can apply for a voucher to get services worth €10k, €20k or €40k from ValuSect partners. In total, a budget of 300.000€ is available for this call.
The menu of services includes various categories along the value chain: technological services, food development and innovation, marketing and communication and strategic business services, all related to insect-based feed products. The menu of services and the application form will be available on 17 January on our website.
The call is open to SMEs located in North-West Europe developing insect-based feed products which have an innovative idea for the development of the sector in Europe. Activities related to 4 insect species only will be supported: grasshoppers, crickets, mealworms and black soldier flies (Locusta migratoria, Acheta domesticus, Tenebrio molitor and Hermetia illucens).
