€800 000 in funding to help European insect-based food businesses

The ValuSect consortium will launch a voucher call on 1 December 2020 to support SMEs in accelerating the development of insect-based foods in Europe. SMEs located in North-West Europe can apply for a voucher worth €10.000, €20.000 or 40.000 in services provided by the project partners. 40 cases will be selected over 3 years.

A menu will detail the available services. They include technological services, food development and innovation, consumer acceptance and strategic business services, all related to insect-based food products. The menu of services and the application form will be made available on 1 December on our website.

If you are a food and beverage or agri-food SME located in North-West Europe (Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and parts of France, Germany and the Netherlands) and have an innovative idea for the development of the insect business in Europe, visit our website and apply to our call!

How to apply

The application process consists of two phases:

  • Idea stage: submit your application between 1 and 31 December 2020

Applicants submit a form to provide general information about the company and to describe the idea/question which they would like to receive a voucher for.

Successful applicants will be informed of their selection for the 2nd stage by the end of January 2021.

  • Detailed stage: submit your application between 1 and 15 February 2021

Applicants who received a positive answer in January 2021 will be invited to give a detailed description of the idea and prove it is in line with ValuSect’s objectives. The requested support should be directly linked to the services detailed in the menu. Successful SMEs will receive an answer in March 2021.

Virtual information session on 24 November 2020

A virtual information session will be organised on 24 November from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm CET (3:00 pm to 4:00 pm UK time) to offer guidance on how to apply for a voucher.

During the session, the progress and achievements of the ValuSect project will be presented, and the voucher scheme (objectives, application process, quick look guide to services) will be explained. At the end of the session, participants will get time to ask questions.
