ValuSect holds its closing event on 21 September

14 September 2023, Brussels — After four years of hard work to strengthen transnational cooperation and development of research related to insects as resources for food and feed production, Interreg NWE project ValuSect is proud to showcase its results in a final closing event, in Brussels.

Over the last four years, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, the lead partner organisation of ValuSect, together with its 10 full members and 8 associated partners from 7 countries, have invested time and energy to strengthen the development of an emerging, innovative and sustainable insect-based food and feed sector.

Insects represent a sustainable alternative for food and feed resources, especially in a time of population growth and resource depletion in densely populated areas such as North-West Europe. In this context, the ValuSect Interreg North-West Europe project aimed to improve the quality of insect production and processing, including its environmental impact, as well as the perception and attitude of consumers, in order to make insects an important part of the more sustainable diet of tomorrow in North-West Europe.

During the ValuSect closing event, all members of the consortium will proudly present the results of their four years of work. The event will focus on the project's achievements in strengthening the insect-based food and feed sector and the future of the sector in Europe. Discussions will be held with leading experts, researchers and industry insiders from the exciting world of insect-based food and feed production.

The ValuSect closing event will take place on 21 September in Brussels, at the heart of Europe's decision-making processes and at the centre of the Interreg North-West Europe region.
