At the end of September the PHA-team from the WOW! Project had its first meeting in Kaiserslautern. They had a fruitful two days where got to know one another better and exchanged our experiences, progress and plans in the project.
The plans for building the PHA pilot were presented by TU Kaiserslautern. Avans shared the first extraction results and ideas and Avans compared two PHA accumulation experiments, and what this could implicate for the PHA pilot. Furthermore, details about analytical methods to measure lab-scale and pilot performance were discussed. The experts had an elaborate tour in the TU Kaiserslautern laboratories with the PHA accumulation setups and acidification reactors. NaturePlast discussed their plans with the PHA once it would be ready for experiments on material characterisation. Moreover, timelines for building the PHA pilot and a labscale reactor by TU Kaiserslautern, PHA accumulated biomass delivery to Avans, and extracted PHA delivery to NaturePlast were discussed.
