Thanks to a collaboration between 3 European Interreg projects (REC², BATI C2 and UP STRAW) 3 days of visits dedicated to public authorities were organised in April, May and June. Each visit was an opportunity to discover 5 bio-based buildings, public or tertiary buildings.
On April 24 the participants visited a restaurant/sports shop in Mouscron. It is a new construction made of a wood structure insulated with straw. Everybody agreed to say that the restaurant feels warm and cosy.
On May 9 the participants discovered a 350 square meter shop. La Ferme à l'Arbre sells local and biological products. It was therefore obvious for them to have a sustainable building. The wood structure is insulated with straw and covered inside with clay plaster.
