The F261, the fast cycle route along the Midden-Brabantweg from Waalwijk to Tilburg, becomes the first cycle highway in the Dutch Province of North Brabant with the new signposting. For the final selection of the design, 2 designs were presented in the town hall of Dongen. There, the directors of the province of Noord-Brabant, Tilburg, Waalwijk and Loon op Zand signed the official agreement so that the F261 can actually be built in the short term. Read More

In our series of articles showcasing infrastructure of cycle highways we return once more to RijnWaalpad, to examine “het Groentje”. The bridge was incorporated last minute into the design of Nijmegen ring road to avoid interruptions and delays for cyclists. Read More
Continuing our journey on RijnWaalpad, the cycle highway from Arnhem to Nijmegen, we arrive to Snelbinder – a two-kilometre long bicycle bridge, used by 6000 cyclists daily. It is interesting both as an engineering accomplishment and from the urban planning point of view. Read More
Where cycle highways meet busier roads, crossings are often grade-separated to maximise safety and minimise the need of stopping. We revisit RijnWaalpad to see how to design safe, comfortable and attractive bicycle tunnels. Read More
CHIPS project partner, the Dutch province of Gelderland can be an example on how to minimise the number of stops and interruptions on a cycle highway. Cycling 18 km on the RijnWaalpad between Arnhem and Nijmegen train stations, you only have to yield to other traffic twice. Read More
