The Heart Center of the Jessa Hospital is engaged in both academical and commercial clinical research, next to its clinical mission. Its Heart Centre (Hartcentrum Hasselt) is one of the big non-university secondary referral centers in Belgium, located in an association of 2 hospitals (total 1300 beds) with 18 cardiologists. Their rehabilitation center is also one of the largest in Belgium, with 7 cardiac rehabilitation specialists involved.
