The 100-meter-deep exploratory borehole will first be technically evaluated and then developed into a seismological observatory. The borehole will thus become part of a network of monitoring stations for the deep underground in the Weisweiler area. Read More
An overall view through an interactive online map is in development merging the baseline sources to identify potential geothermal hotspot regions within the project area. Read More
Stakeholders had the opportunity to take part in the final workshop and get first-hand information about the results of the Interreg North-West Europe Project DGE-ROLLOUT (Roll-out of Deep Geothermal Energy in North-West Europe). Read More
Making geothermal energy from great depths usable - was the focus of DGE-ROLLOUT. At the last partner meeting in Brussels, results and experiences were exchanged. Read More
Deep #geothermal energy can supply heat for large parts of northwestern Europe. At the Hannover Messe, our partner DMT will present how to find and use this sustainable and supply-secure energy. Read More
The 500 kW heat pump system has now reached its planned location in Bochum and is ready for installation. It will connect the local district heating network to the seasonal high-temperature mine thermal energy storage. Read More
Within the framework of the DGE-ROLLOUT project https://www.nweurope.eu/.../dge-rollout-roll-out-of-deep.../ financed by the ERDF and the Walloon Region, the Geological Survey of Belgium/ Service Géologique de Belgique is carrying out a geophysical prospection campaign named GEOCOND2022 in December, in order to determine the presence of rocks favorable for the development of deep geothermal energy. The drill rig is to work its way down to a depth of 130 meters and thus bring to light rocks that are of interest for possible geothermal energy utilization. Read More
On October 3rd, VITO, the Geological Survey of Belgium, the University of Liège, Deplasse, Geo-Green, and the SPW organized a day dedicated to geothermal energy in the Walloon region. The objective is to raise awareness and demonstrate how geothermal energy, whether shallow or deep, represents an important lever to decarbonize the region. The event was, among other things, an opportunity to present the ambitions of the Walloon region for geothermal energy and to give an overview of the regulations in force in this field. Furthermore, the results and tools developed in the framework of the project to determine the potential of shallow geothermal energy in Wallonia and the DGE-ROLLOUT project for deep geothermal energy were presented. The Geological Survey of Belgium provides information on the upcoming seismic campaign of the DGE-ROLLOUT project. Read More
